I know in the Pittsburgh area (the so-called birthplace of the JW's) there was about 4 congregations dissolved or merged last year. There are whisperings that more are coming to the area. I now for a fact there was a special elders meeting early last summer prepping the brothers about it.

I was once "blessed" to be invited to attend an operational committee meeting for a remodel of our local KH. 4 hours! It was 4 hours long. The biggest sticking point? We had a local brother who had a wallpaper business. He wanted the hall to be wallpapered. Now, one of the reasons for the remodel was the 'baby room' and in other areas the old wall paper was peeling for various reasons. Many of the brothers wanted to get ride of it and just have dry wall throughout the Hall.This pompous ass of a brother went on for hours....hours, browbeating everyone until he got his way. I actually sat there appalled at his attitude. And I couldn't believe the other brothers gave into him. He wore them down. So they spent nearly 1/2 their remodeling budget on new wallpaper and shelved the new HVAC system (which WAS needed)! I asked one brother who I was close with after if that brother is always that pompous? He said no, he usually is way worse.

@ Cofy...at first I was going to argue your statement, but you know? You're right. A lot of those statements were supported by scientific facts. Still are in most cases. The problem was there wasn't a complete picture of the problems. Not enough study to formulate a proper conclusion. Just one side was researched and pushed to the extreme.
I see this same failed agenda today pushing global climate change caused by man-made CO2 emissions. See, I don't deny climate change. What I deny is the influence man has on it.

I noticed the signature at the bottom is for the 'Account Servant". If my memory serves me correctly, it used to say 'Elder". So, does that mean an Account Servant is now in charge of the operation committees expenses? If so, that is a fairly big change imo.

by krismalone ini believe when we were in the jw cult, our brains and thoughts were hijacked by the governing body.
i truly believe the gb thinks all members are stupid and they laugh at them in their wednesday morning secret meetings.. one such teaching that i never heard anyone bring out or question yet the absurdity and contradiction is blatantly obvious is: revelation chapter 20 says that christ will reign for 1000 years.
it doesn't say he will reign more than a thousand yrs but only 1000 yrs.

'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??
by punkofnice inat one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.
however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.
i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

OMG! I thought I was the only one. I had to give an experience at an Assembly some 13 years ago. By the time the Circus Overseer 'changed' a few things to make it more 'appropriate' for us locally, it only superficially resembled what actually happened. In fact, the made up version that the friends saw now became the true version. Why do I say this? Because I had more than a few people who knew the real situation ask me why I didn't tell them all of this made up crap originally. Worse part, we were 'instructed' to not tell anyone that the CO changed the experience! So we basically had to now lie to everyone that this made up version was always the truth.

What Do You Think About Banning Plastic Bags?

I use plastic shopping bags for everything. They are my waste bags in the house like some have previously stated, I use them for "organizers" in my truck, and anything else I can think of. I have even made cheap kites out of them in the springtime for fun.
